Video: Mario Kart 7 Is A Big Time Rush!
Nintendo is at it again with another odd music/videogame team-up. I mean, Beyonce shilling Style Savvy for the DS kinda made sense, as she had a fashion line. But Hilary Duff and nintendogs? Well, now we have tween boy band Big Time Rush promoting Mario Kart 7!
Basically, the Nickelodeon-created band is going on tour in the US this summer, and will offer up hands-on demos of the 3DS racer, photo ops, and prizes. They'll also have Miis of the band members available for download.
"We couldn't be more excited to take Mario Kart 7 out on the road for our tour this summer," said Big Time Rush. "We are all huge Nintendo fans and our new partnership provides a cool way to share the fun of Nintendo 3DS with people all over the country."
I just don't see the connection. And they don't really look particularly convincing in the commercial. (They do, however, look frighteningly over-styled...) But hey, the boys are cute. (Why else did you think I was writing about this?)

My nephew wants me to buy him a 3DS because of this commercial...
Nintendo must have played a real pretty penny for this. I'm kinda disappointed but whatever. As long as they keep the good games coming.
Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who is SERIOUSLY creeped out by this entirely manufactured "boy band"... THING that Nickelodeon has regurgitated. They are just... not in any semblance of meaning of the term, "good". At all. They are the epitome of genericness, of everything that we all struggled to leave behind in the 90's, and they are just traumatizing.
Paid. Not played. Damn autocorrect.
In the UK they had Girls Aloud and The Saturdays, clearly I am not the intended demographic for the US commercials.
