There's Going To Be A Walking Dead Game! ... oh, wait...

There's already a terrific videogame based on The Walking Dead out in the form of one of Telltale Games' classic adventure titles. But apparently Activision has decided that we need another, and thus The Walking Dead is born. Of course, while Telltale's was based more on the comic universe and used that kind of visual style, this one from Terminal Reality will be based specifically on the AMC TV series.
"The work AMC has done with the TV series has been amazing and we're ecstatic at the opportunity to be brought into the fold," said Drew Haworth, Creative Director at Terminal Reality. "The studio is made up of fans of the show, and we think other fans will see that the situations and walkers featured in our game are every bit as gruesome and shocking as they are in the TV series -- they look, move and react as expected with full authenticity -- and they will surprise you. The player's fight-or-flight survival instinct is constantly engaged. 'Flight' is usually a good bet."
You'll be playing as Daryl Dixon, in a storyline set before the TV series begins, so he'll still have his nasty older brother Merle at his side. There's no actual footage or screenshots yet, but I'm gonna guess a traditional FPS, although Activision is saying that you'll encounter other survivors that can either help or hurt you, and your decisions will have consequences. But we'll have to wait and see when more information on the game is released in the time before it releases onto Xbox 360s, PS3s and PCs in 2013.
Personally, I don't think the Walking Dead TV series will ever measure up to the comic series, so playing a game based on the show? Yeah, not exactly top of my list... The Walking Dead is more about the horror and human emotions than the action and violence... at least to me!

Didn't they say that it was going to have limited ammo? I thought I read that somewhere.
Yes, there will be limited ammo and supplies, which is typical for this genre.
There's also the sticking point for me, at least, which is playing a game where I HAVE to spend time with one of the most dispicably racist, horrible characters I can think of. Daryl's actually a pretty interesting complex character, but if it takes place Pre-Atlanta it means he'll have to roll his eyes and put up with his brother's horribleness the entire game...which sounds more like torture than something I'd want to pay money for.
But...we get to play as Judas. So - win! *drools*
Hmm...amazingly well written and executed adventure game with unique and distinctive visual style? Or generic FPS with zombies? I know which one I'D rather play.
