Video: Silent Hill Revelations 3D Trailer
I know that it met with mixed reviews, but I personally really enjoyed the Silent Hill movie adaptation. So I was super-excited to hear that they were doing a sequel, and seeming to focus on Silent Hill 3, one of my favorites in the series. The actress playing Heather looks dead-on, but now having seen this trailer for Silent Hill: Revelations 3D, I have... concerns.
Love the nurses, and that they've included the mannequin-parts creatures, because those always freaked me out. Pyramid Head looks like he's been working out a lot in the interim, and I almost squealed with joy to see the amusement park.
But there's something that doesn't feel quite right to me. I hate the idea that she's not just looking for her missing father, but also this boy. Why complicate things? Also, there seems to be a lot of Heather and this guy together in Silent Hill, which shouldn't be. It should be a solitary experience... that's what makes it scary.
Of course, the actual movie could be fine, and they just cut this together for the trailer to make it look like something else. (Kind of like how all the TV commercials for The Watch don't even give a hint that it's about aliens) I'm sure Sean Bean is in the first few minutes of the movie, and that's it. So hopefully the boy does the same. (Although since he's played by the delicious Kit Harington, I might be willing to allow some extra screen time) I also need to make sure that this movie was shot in 3D like the Resident Evil movies, and the effect wasn't added afterwards to increase box office, because that never looks as good.
I'm still totally going to see this opening weekend, regardless!

Agreed, It looks like a fun movie, I can't wait !
It looks fun- but I feel like there isnt enough isolation... at least from the trailer. Maybe itll be more alone feeling in the real movie.
Silent Hill is less scary when surrounded by people.
That "Revelation" word sure is getting A LOT of use lately >_>
It WAS shot natively in 3D, and the director, Michael J. Bassett recently either blogged or tweeted about how the trailer was cut together more "actiony" because of the reception of the last movie, but he assured fans that it was more horror-based than even the previous film. I'm excited, and from what I've read on his blog, he really does seem to "get it."
That's good to hear. I watched the clip of the nurse scene on YouTube, and from the camera angles, it was obviously shot with 3D in mind as far as the depth of field. And I'm glad that my impression of the trailer was exactly right, meaning it was deceptively edited, and not necessarily representative of what the final film will be like. Phew!
Well... I'm not saying don't be a LITTLE nervous... But don't be as nervous as you first were when you saw the trailer, baha.
The thing is... As far as canon goes, it does still have to follow the first movie. Hence stuff like Pyramid Head. I think it's safe to say that his (or any monster's, for that matter) meaning in the movies is very different than what we had in the games.
My understanding is that they've found a way to work more of the game mythos into the simplified but incredibly hot mess that was the first movie. I can only hope and pray that that turns out to be true. I loved the first movie for what it was. I actually love it now MORE since time has passed.
I imported a 2-disc region-free French blu-ray that has a ton of making-of stuff, including two commentaries, and interviews with Akira Yamaoka and other game creators... It's incredible, and it really made me appreciate the film much more. I really hope that this movie isn't a letdown, as a sequel to the first, or as an adaptation of SH3.
It's Sean Bean again!
