I don't know about you, but when I play a game with heavy character customization, I will spend at least a half an hour at the start finessing my avatar's look, whether it's male or female. Hey, if I'm going to have to look at someone for 30-40 hours, I want it to be someone I don't mind looking at!
Dragon's Dogma is one of those games with lots of fun customization options, and now Capcom is taking advantage of that by holding a sort of beauty contest! Starting now, you can enter the contest being held on The Gran Soren Times website, which is where you can upload your pawn and search for other pawns that you might want to use in the game. (Pawns are your AI companions, and you create one that levels up with you but have to keep trading the other two out for new ones as you go so you can get ones with the right levels and skills.) There are three categories: Fairest Maidens, Most Dashing Gentlemen (like the fashionable fellow above), and Most Unique Myrmidons. Winning entries will receive exclusive avatars for PSN or Xbox LIVE, and 18 lucky grand prize winners (six each from Europe, North America and Japan) will have their pawns showcased in the "Special Pawn" area of the Rift. For more information on the contest, and to enter your own pawn's screenshot, check out The Gran Soren Times.
In other news, Capcom is releasing a new Dragon's Dogma demo exclusive to PlayStation 3 owners that features the prologue. And as with the original demo, you can transfer over your character's save data into the full game if you choose to go out and buy it. The demo will be available starting August 15 in Europe and August 21 in North America. So if you haven't checked out this fun action RPG, give the demo a whirl!
And if you're already playing Dragon's Dogma on the Xbox 360 or PS30, there's a new title update that adds an Easy Mode! Hm. I might actually take advantage of that one... Hey, I'm not proud! If I don't, it'll eventually get so hard I'll get frustrated and never finish it!
