You guys (and gals) know what a ridiculous Animal Crossing fan I am, and how desperately I want the 3DS Animal Crossing game in my hands. Well, the game still isn't coming out until the spring in Japan, so who knows when it will get to our shores. But Japanese gaming mag Famitsu had a report on Animal Crossing: Jump Out (which I hope gets a better subtitle in the US), which Nintendo Everything conveniently translated.
Some information we already knew, like playing as the mayor, and there being a shopping mall, and the increase in customization of nearly everything about your homes. But there's some new stuff, too, including some different shops. There's a new thrift shop run by Lisa the alpaca, although based on my experience with Animal Crossing, I wouldn't expect her prices to really be that low! There's also going to be a shoe store, which I guess replaces the shoe shine guy in City Folk. Unless he's made enough money on the streets of the city to open up his own shop in this game, I'm guessing the poor guy is out of a job.
The Able Sisters are still around, sewing away. And the museum will see an increase in the types of fish and fossils to find, as well as a museum shop. I guess this game really wants you to spend your bells left and right! It also seems that Tom Nook has given up his department store in favor of raccoon housing. You'll start with a tent (?!?) and upgrade it into a large house. A tent? Hope it doesn't rain! Another new shop is the gardening store, which seems to be run by a sloth. This is where you'll buy your flower seeds and tree seedlings.
It's interesting that they seem to have broken Nook's stranglehold on the Animal Crossing retail front. City Folk started that, with the introduction of Gracie Grace in the city, and I'm assuming Redd will still be around in some fashion to try and rip you off occasionally. But it seems that they've split stuff up into separate shops. So where do you buy your furniture? Hopefully not at the thrift shop! Who knows what kind of condition it'll be in! (Unless bedbugs are on the list of insects, in which case, that's fine!)
The only thing is that I still haven't heard anything about a camera in the 3DS version. Unless I'm able to take screenshots of hilarious conversations and big events, what's going to happen to my Animal Crossing diaries?!?
