When Nintendo announced a whole bunch of release dates for upcoming 3DS games, I knew before I even looked at the list that there would be no mention of Animal Crossing. The Japanese one isn't due out until this fall, so I'm not even going to expect it before the spring of 2013 here. But I was very saddened to learn that the 3DS sequel Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon was now being pushed back to the first half of 2013. The poor guy just can't catch a break, can he?
But there are a whole bunch of great games coming out, and it looks like October is going to give my 3DS battery quite a workout with Art Academy: Lessons For Everyone!, Style Savvy: Trendsetters and Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask due out that month. And hopefully I can get my fill of those before Paper Mario: Sticker Star streets in November!
For the full list of games and release dates, make the jump. I'm not clogging up the homepage with a list like this!
Art Academy: Lessons for Everyone! (October 1)
The sequel to Art Academy has already been getting rave reviews in Europe where its already out. Use paints, pencils and pastels to create works of hard on your 3DS, from 3D pictures provided in the lessons or that you take yourself! And new lessons will be available for download later (for a price).
Crosswords Plus (October 1)
Over 1,000 crosswords to challenge players of any skill level. You can share puzzles via StreetPass, or download additional free puzzles via SpotPass.
Sparkle Snapshots 3D (October 18)
This eShop app will let you add 3D layers of stickers, ribbons, pens and other effects to your 2D photos, then share them with friends wirelessly or transfer them to an SD card to E-mail them.
Skylanders Giants (October 21)
The craze continues with more than 20 new "inter-action" figures to collect, including Giants that are twice the size of regular Skylanders and new LightCore Skylanders that light up in the game and in real life.
Style Savvy: Trendsetters (October 22)
In this sequel to the awesome DS game, you run your own fashion boutique, competing in fashion shows, and making sure everyone looks as fabulous as possible. And this time, you get to dress up boys, too!
Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask (October 28)
Dozens more puzzles are going to hurt your brain as you help Professor Layton through yet another bizarre mystery. And this time, instead of weekly downloadable puzzles, they're promising a puzzle a day for 365 days after the game launches, and for free! That's a lot of brain teasing!
Freakyforms Deluxe: Your Creations, Alive! (November 5)
This will contain features not found in the original downloadable title, like dungeons to explore, enhanced creation capabilities, new parts, and new powers. It will also have Download Play so you can share your experience with someone who doesn't already own the game.
Paper Mario: Sticker Star (November 11)
Paper Mario goes 3D with tons of stickers to collect to solve puzzles and win battles. There's not much more to say about it because it's Paper Mario and will therefore be awesome.
Disney Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion (November 18)
Inspired by the classic Castle of Illusion Mickey Mouse game, this has Mickey using paint and thinner to navigate a 3D game world.
