The much-anticipated (by me, at least!) Style Savvy: Trendsetters doesn't hit the Nintendo 3DS until October 22 (both in stores and in the eShop for download), but today they released a demo into the eShop that will give you just a taste of the game to tide you over for the next few weeks.
The fashion show demo lets you pick a model and then dress her appropriately for the required theme, fix her hair and makeup and then send her down the runway. For anyone who's played the original Style Savvy on the DS, this will be old hat, and since it's the Beginner Level contest, you'll ace it like I did. But for newbies, the demo explains the whole thing to you, and now they've even added in a fashion glossary, so if you want to know what a highlighted fashion term means, you just tap the button on the touch screen, and it lays it all right out for you.
The graphics look terrific, and were just the step up from the DS version I was hoping for. The 3D doesn't really pop, but it adds a nice sense of depth, especially during the fashion show sequence as all the models take their turn. It's very dynamic and fun. Also, at the end of the demo, they mention that in the full game, there's going to be an AR photo shoot feature, so you can use models from the game and I guess have them pose in your living room or wherever you choose. That could be oddly fun!
Another demo for Style Savvy: Trendsetters will be available on November 1, for anyone who hasn't already picked up the game by then. In this demo, you'll be able to style a model and then visit the online Fashion Plaza where you can check out ensembles created by actual Style Savvy: Trendsetters players. And any items purchased using in-game money in this demo can be carried over into the full game if you choose to buy it. But why wouldn't you buy it when it's already been established that Style Savvy is awesome?
