Lara Croft Returns To Comics 2

Crystal Dynamics and Dark Horse Comics are partnering up to bring Lara Croft back to the world of four-color comics. If you pre-order Tomb Raider at Best Buy, you can get Tomb Raider: The Beginning, a 48-page hardcover comic book prequel to the game written by lead game writer Rhianna Pratchett.

“Whilst penning Lara’s origins story for the game I had lots of ideas about the world she and the other characters inhabited, and the story behind their voyage: as great to be able to flesh out the world of Tomb Raider and work with the talented team at Dark Horse to bring Lara Croft back to comics,” said Pratchett.

But this is just the start, as Dark Horse has plans for more comics expanding Lara’s adventures beyond the games. For a look at some random pages from the book, make the jump!

(Writer) I love Animal Crossing, music games (even though I can’t sing or play instruments) and adventure games. And the occasional 40+ hr JRPG when I can find the time! I live in Brooklyn, NY with my husband, Frank.

I’m not really digging the art style. It’s certainly not bad, I just don’t think it fits the theme of the reboot. Was definitely expecting something a little more darker in tone.

I agree. It’s not bad, but it IS very clean and not exactly what you’d expect, considering how dark and violent and gritty the game is looking. I just figure it’s because it takes place before the game, so everything’s all sunshine and flowers before the ship crashes and Lara is stranded and gets all messed up and dark… ;-)
