Red Equal Signs: Gaming Edition 2

This past week may have been the Game Developer’s Conference, but it also marked the beginning of the Supreme Court hearings on Proposition 8 and the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). All across the nation, the LGBT and allied community have rallied together to urge the Supreme Court to deem both laws as unconstitutional. There have been marches, vigils, and, as with any good 21st century movement, viral campaigns.

The Human Rights Campaign got the viral ball rolling this time around by circulating a red and pink (love colors) version of their equality symbol and encouraging people to use it as their profile picture on Facebook and other social media outlets as a show of support for equality. While the HRC is certainly not without its fair share of flaws, most recently and notably the ongoing conflict between them and the trans community, the overall sentiment behind the movement can’t be denied.

People were quite literally seeing red all over their feeds as the original HRC profile pic has reached millions, and some special snowflakes even took things a step further by shopping their own unique variants of the red equal sign. These variants included, of course, gaming references.

We’ve collected some of our favorites here and have even more below the cut.
