So many people are using Kickstarter nowadays that it can be easy to get lost in the shuffle. But gaymer Ricardo Valenzuela is part of the international team from Still Alive Studios working on a game called Son Of Nor that is only a third of the way to its goal with a couple of weeks to go.
Son Of Nor is a third-person action/adventure game set on a desert world where humans are being driven to extinction by a reptilian race called the Sarahul. The unique aspect of this title is the usage of powers that include telekinesis, magic spells and terraforming in both combat and puzzle-solving. You can rip chunks of rock out of canyon walls to throw at enemies or use as platforms to traverse gaps, or use terraforming to create dunes that hide you from enemies or allow you to reach previously-unaccessible levels, or just create a giant pit that swallows your enemies whole. It allows you to mix and match your powers to play the game in a way that suits your style, from stealthy to action-oriented.
There is also a co-op multiplayer mode where up to four players can join forces, and that mode will include many different puzzles and situations that will require more than one person to complete.
Son Of Nor is being developed for PC, Mac and Linux, and a pledge of $20 or more will get you a digital copy of the game. Higher pledges naturally include more swag, like a collector’s edition, your name on the Wall of Heroes in a city in the game, or the ability to design and name one of the NPCs in the game or even become a playable character yourself! For full details including extensive video diaries, you can visit their Kickstarter page here. And donate, if you’d like to support a fellow gaymer’s project!
