The world’s first ever LGBTQ* Gaming Convention, GaymerX, is officially one week away. It’s been a long road for the event, taking place August 3rd-4th (with a VIP kick off event on the 2nd), since growing from a humble Kickstarter to making nearly four times i’s funding to partnering with the likes of LogoTV, BioWare, Pandora Boxx, Anna Anthropy, and Ellen McClain to name a few. This past week the Advocate, Mashable, and Polygon have all been a buzz with talk about GaymerX.

Even more exciting, we can exclusively announce that GaymerX has teamed up with new presenting sponsor NIS America and the upcoming Disgaea D2: A Brighter Darkness.

And none of it could have happened without all the support from the gay gaming community:

“We are so excited to be doing this… and we couldn’t have done it without the support of online communities like the Reddit R/Gaymers, Geeks Out, SF Gaymers and the GayGamer.Net community.” Quoted Toni Rocca, cofounder of GaymerX  “They have been so supportive and there’s no way that this convention would have the over 2,000 gaymers and allies and the national attention it has gotten without the support of the community”

This is set to be a momentous event in gay gaming history, and if you miss it I guarantee you will be kicking yourself for days to come.

But what will GayGamer be doing all weekend? I’m glad you sort of asked.

If you haven’t already, be sure to nab your tickets for the con! GaymerX ticket sales officially close TODAY so if you want to get your ticket at the regular price you can head on over to www.gaymerconnect.com to do so. After today you can only get tickets via on-site registration and the price increased from $45 to $60. What’s more, if you use the code ‘gaygamer’ you get an additional $10 off your ticket when you buy online. SO GO BUY.

If you’re feeling fancy you can upgrade to a $135 VIP Registration   which includes access to the VIP party on Friday night, T-shirt, shwag bag, and more unlockables!

Speaking of the VIP Party, it will be hosted by none other than Miss Pandora Boxx of RuPaul’s Drag Race fame. At the very same party there will be a GayGamer.net table where you can come and meet the GayGamer team! We promise we won’t bite unless we’re asked.

During the con itself we’ll be hosting the GayGamer Lost Levels press lounge and media room, with outlets like LogoTV, Destructoid, SF Examiner, Joystiq, and many more coming out to show support. There may or may not be some extra special guests that we can’t talk about just yet as well. A lady never gives away all of her secrets now does she?

We’ll also be wandering the convention floor looking for the best cosplay, conducting interviews, and more. Keep and eye out for the GayGamer t-shirts and come say hi! We’ll be documenting the con as best as we can and that means we want to meet you!

And then on Sunday August 4th you can catch up with us again at the ‘GayGamer.net: Where We’ve Been and Where We’re Going’ panel, 2pm in the Prince of Cats/Spring BC Room, where our lovely staff of writers as well as founder David Edison (aka TinyDancer) will be talking about the history of the site, our plans for the future, and answering questions from the audience. Oh and giving away free stuff. Of course.

And that’s just what we’re doing this weekend. There will be so much more going on, and for the full breakdown of events you can head on over to the GaymerX panel schedule by clicking here.

Don’t forget to buy your tickets TODAY and to remind all of your friends! As an added incentive we will be giving away five FREE tickets to GaymerX to anyone who shares or tweets this out to their followers and @mentions us. The winners will be picked at random and must be able to make it to the SF Bay Area for the con next weekend.

So go and shout it to the heavens: GaymerX is locked, loaded, and ready for action!

Ahh this is fantastic. I really am happy how LGBT culture and community keeps growing and people are becoming more aware, getting more sense in their heads. And this is gonna be sponsored by Disgaea? One of my favorite and one of gaming’s most charming series!? hell yeah! Glad to see some japanese developers not being too afraid to touch the gay topic. :)
