Well, the rain just won’t let up in Geneva. All week it’s been raining more often than not. It’s sort of helpful, because I don’t have to worry about watering my flowers, but at the same time, it’s just kind of dreary. Also, I was convinced it was going to ruin the fireworks on the Fourth of July, but… well, there wasn’t actually a Fourth of July celebration. Guess they don’t have that holiday here. Oh well! Make the jump for all the rest of the activities!
One day I came outside my house to discover that a couple of the bushes I had planted were finally starting to bloom. I don’t even remember what kind of bush this is anymore because I bought them so very, very long ago. Once the plant shop started selling them, I bought up a bunch of them, but when none of them ever started growing any flowers, I kind of stopped wasting my time. Maybe now I’ll give it another shot.
This week I finished the pteradon dinosaur, which is pretty awesome. It doesn’t look very impressive here, but trust me, it is. I think I’ve only got a couple of dinosaurs left to complete. Then maybe I’ll start using the fossils to make models instead of selling them for bells. But right now I’m all about bells for the expansions and public works projects.
Weirdly, people have been all about the time capsules. First, I dug one up and totally forgot whose it was. Then I remembered it was Molly. Then Bam reminded me to go dig his up later in the week, and he gave me the bear tee that was inside. Basically, they bury a random note to themselves and a T-shirt, and then after reading the letter they give you the clothing that was inside. So… not that exciting, really. But they seem to enjoy them enough for both of us. Heck, towards the end of the week, Tiffany asked me to bury one for her, too! (I usually just bury them in my front yard so I see when they’re ready to be dug up again.)
It’s been so long since Redd showed up I totally thought the authorities were on to his massive scam. But he popped up again in my town so I once more poured over the four items trying to suss out the real piece of art. Usually there are a couple that are so obviously fake it’s not even an issue. But then there’s a couple that are close enough that I just can’t decide. Luckily, I picked right, and the robust statue turned out to be Discobolus, which was awesome. Phew!
I had already put back on my rainbow tank and bubble hat for Gay Pride, but imagine my delight when I went into Club LOL during the afternoon for my daily emote and Shrunk actually taught me “pride!” So appropriate it’s almost as if he knew! I’ve actually learned nearly every one of the emotes… just a few left!
Seriously? I mean, eventually I will have bells to burn and be able to afford a crown that costs a million bells… but not right now! At this point, I’m still paying for house expansions and public works projects. But one day, this princess crown will be mine. Hey, it’s still cheaper than the king’s crown that showed up later in the week for 1,200,00 bells!
One day the rain was really bad. I mean, torrential downpours and lightning flashing in the sky. It was kind of impressive. Still didn’t use an umbrella, though! It’s just water!
Oh, I had forgotten how annoying the cicadas are. They’re just so freakin’ noisy! And there’s like, a half a dozen varieties, so they’re everywhere. Seriously everywhere. And most of them aren’t even worth many bells, so it’s not worth the trouble of catching more than the one to put in the museum. I just walk close enough to the tree to scare them away so they shut up!
Okay, the public works projects are just getting weird. Sometimes they ask for something like the stadium lights or the stop sign that I have no intention of building. But when one of my townsfolk asked for a chair sculpture, I thought it was weird enough to give it a go. I mean, you always have the option to take it down later anyway, so what’s wrong with putting it up for fun? And while this is technically a chair sculpture, it just looks like a giant red boot. That you can sit on. Modern art is so weird. No wonder Blathers wouldn’t want this in the museum!
Again Olaf told me that he was going to move. And again I told him to go ahead. And again he was all outraged and decided to stay to be an even better friend so I wouldn’t let him move away. Sigh. Not to be rude, but I could use some new blood in this town. Problem is, nobody’s moving away! Not even when I tell them to go! And I don’t have the heart to go to Isabelle and try that “problem townsperson” option or whatever it’s called. I’m not that mean. Yet…
Yay! Found my first four-leaf clover! I immediately put it in my hair and started fishing. Of course, with this kind of thing I never know if it’s just my imagination or what, but I would swear that I had better luck fishing and caught a bunch of fish that are normally much more rare.
It’s a new month, so there was a new present to pick up at the post office. This time, it was a palm tree lamp, which I put in my back yard. It doesn’t really go, because it’s not a tropical island back yard, just a regular one, but I didn’t have anyplace else to put it!
Also, if you went to Best Buy again, there was a new item, this cat tower. It’s really huge and kind of cool-looking. Not that I have a cat or anything. I have a dog house in my yard, but no dog, either. Heck, I don’t even have a cat neighbor! Although I suppose it would be kind of weird to have a cat neighbor and then also a pet cat. Would the neighbor think I was a horrible person keeping one of them as a pet? The mind boggles!
I was stunned when Bam flagged me down to tell me he was going to move. The day after I had sent him a present in the mail and everything! And he sent me back a reply with a present of his own to give to me! I thought we were bffers! What is up with that? Anyway, Bam I told to stay, and he agreed to stick around. Phew!
After not seeing Redd for quite some time, I actually got two visits from him this week. And again I was super-paranoid about picking a fake one, so I spent way too much time deciding between two paintings. But I got lucky again and picked this common painting, which is known as The Gleaners. It’s not that pretty, but whatever. Gotta fill the museum! Now I wonder how long it’ll take Redd to show up again… probably not for a month!
