Bundle Up With Nintendo! 1

Nintendo is changing things up a bit in time for the holiday shopping season. Beginning on November 1, The Wii U Deluxe Set will now come with New Super Mario Bros. U and New Super Luigi U (all on one disc) instead of Nintendo Land. (You can still buy Nintendo Land separately in stores and via the eShop) This new Deluxe Set will cost the same, though, just $299.99.

Of course, if you can still find one, there’s the special Zelda bundle of the Wii U Deluxe edition that contains a download code for The Wind Waker HD, a digital copy of Hyrule Historia and a Zelda-emblazoned GamePad controller for the same $299.99.

Although if you’re into Skylanders, you might be interested in the Skylanders SWAP Force bundle. This one contains a white Wii U Basic system, a Skylanders SWAP Force starter pack including: Skylanders SWAP Force Wii U software, a Portal of Power, three Skylanders figures, including Ninja Stealth Elf and two SWAP Force characters, Blast-Zone and an exclusive color shift Washbuckler, as well as a collector’s poster, trading cards and sticker sheets. Oh, and they’ve also thrown Nintendo Land in as well! All that’s just $299.99 as well, although you’re only getting the Basic Wii U system, so you’re gonna have to pick up an external hard drive if you plan on downloading much of anything.

Of course, whether or not this can help Nintendo stave off the onslaught of Xbox Ones and PlayStation 4s when it comes to gamer dollars remains to be seen. This is going to be one serious holiday shopping season!

(Writer) I love Animal Crossing, music games (even though I can’t sing or play instruments) and adventure games. And the occasional 40+ hr JRPG when I can find the time! I live in Brooklyn, NY with my husband, Frank.

Nintendo’s ridiculous policy of locking digital copies of games to one console will limit the appeal of the Zelda deal to Zelda completionists and people who don’t know any better.

I bet the Skylanders one will be effective at clearing out their backstock of Basic units, though.
