Video Games | Resonance of Fate | Japanese Overview Trailer HDXBox 360 | Playstation 3 | Nintendo Wii Above we've got a video overview to the upcoming Tri Ace developed RPG End of Eternity, which will be known as Resonance of Fate on these American shores. I won't lie: this is a long video with a lot of Japanese, so unless you can follow along you'll just have to sit back and appreciate the fancy clothes and floppy hair. A big selling point to the game is apparently the ability to dress your characters in a myriad of outfits and then watch as those outfits show up in the cutscenes! There's also a steampunk transformer you have to fight (I think), and an awful lot of jumping around the battlefield with guns blazing. Is this a JRPG or a John Woo film? Not that I'm complaining. The game will be out in Japan at the end of January for the PS3 and Xbox 360, and although North American and European releases are confirmed, there are no dates yet....

While I'm sure all you pokemaniacs are on top of this already, I thought I'd remind folks that today is the last day to get the legendary Pokemon Arceus from U.S. Toys 'R' Us stores. Just bring a copy of Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum with your Nintendo DS and choose the Mystery Gift option from the game select screen. Then connect to the wireless connection and Arceus will download to your copy of the game. Note that you can't have more than two Wonder Cards before getting Arceus, so delete any extras before you try. The TRU Arceus comes in a Cherish Ball with a Rowap Berry, and knows the moves Judgement, Roar of Time, Spacial Rend, and Shadow Force. Also, trading Arceus to a copy of the upcoming Pokemon HeartGold or SoulSilver will allow you to obtain Dialga, Palkia, or Giratina in that game. Man, this game is so high maintenance! There's currently no other legitimate way to obtain Arceus in the game other than this event, so if you haven't, rush over to a participating Toys R Us before the end of today. Who knows, you might just meet the man of your dreams. Dressed as a Magikarp or something. Get Arceus at Toys 'R' Us [Pokemon Platinum]...

According to a job listing on Linked In, EA is looking for a "Senior Online Level Designer for the Dead Space franchise," and the listed responsibilities include: Conceptualize, script, direct, and build online levels for the game. Own the level design for the online game, be able to work collaboratively with Creative Director and Online Producer to create extremely fun, satisfying and polished multiplayer levels. Drive online design by taking the initiative to bring all parties together to execute on the overall vision for the levels. It feels almost obligatory now for successful single player games to add multiplayer in their later iterations, even if it doesn't necessarily match what players expect from the franchise. Uncharted 2 threw in a slew of multiplayer modes, each with varying degrees of success, and Bioshock 2 also made waves when its multiplayer modes were announced. Will a multiplayer component of Dead Space be able to stand out enough to gather a strong community of gamers, or will it just be another checkpoint to add to the back of the box? After all the pains that the developers went through to define their game as something beyond your average third-person shooter, I hope they can come up with ideas a bit more clever than the usual "deathmatch/team deathmatch/capture the flag." Hopefully that's why they want to hire someone new! The listing also reveals that they're coming to the end of pre-production on the game, and should be "ready for production in the next few months, with many of the navigational and combat mechanics in place." With luck we'll hear more about the sequel soon.
mixvio took an in-depth look at the iPhone's Eliminate Pro in his review. WiiWare games might be getting demos in some shape or form. In this week's GayGamer podcast, Fruit Brute and Tiny Dancer tackled some promiscuous bisexual elves, then they talked about Dragon Age: Origins for a little while. Speaking of Dragon Age, mixvio asked about the moral choices involved in the game. The GayGamer castle saw two birthday celebrations this week, with Tiny Dancer and tech-wizard Mikey each getting one year older. Mikey reviewed the iPhone virtual pet app Pocket Oinko, developed by one of our readers. Adam Sessler took Infinity Ward to task for last weekend's grenade spam video. Wootini thought Style Savvy was rather well attired, you know, for a game where you dress up teenage girls. He also went (half) bare in order to give away his Style Savvy shirt to a lucky winner.
Rumor: Ubisoft Requiring High Scores For Early Copies Of Assassin's Creed 2?

German game magazine Computer Bild Spiele is reporting that, in order to get a review copy of Assassin's Creed II in time for publication in the most recent issue, Ubisoft had some specific criteria. From a web preview of the article (translation by WeAreTheInternetz): Our reviews are tough, but fair. We will not give up our independent scores for the sake of a timely review. This holds true for "Assassin's Creed 2″. The publisher asked us to guarantee the score 'sehr gut', otherwise we would not receive a review copy, thus we will publish our review in next month's issue. We'd be more than glad to give the game a 'sehr gut', but only if it deserves it. Sehr gut literally translates to "very good" and would be considered the equivalent of an 'A' range score in another publication. Ubisoft hasn't commented on the claim, and no other publications have corroborated the story, but unfortunately it's not unfamiliar or hard to believe as review scores become a growing part of the marketing message for high profile games. With the release a little more than a week away, reviews should be coming out soon, and even if the game is amazing, with this rumor they may end up under heavy scrutiny. Hopefully the game can stand on its own merits, and this story won't taint any scrupulous publications. Ubisoft demanding high scores for early Assassins Creed 2 reviews? The Xbox 360 comes in with 16%, with the PSP seeing 12% of kids calling it their most wanted. (No distinction was made between the PSPgo and other models of the system.) Among boys 11-17, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 ranks highly, which is ridiculous because we all know that parents would never buy their underage children an M-rated game, right?
In response to negative reaction to the video mixvio described in a post yesterday, Infinity Ward has pulled it from their YouTube channel. Over on his twitter, Creative Strategist for Infinity Ward Robert Bowling tweeted a couple of times about the issue. In response to Game Informer Associate Editor Phillip Kollar's assertion that the "stupid joke stupid joke condones a part of their community they should be shunning," Bowling responded: I think it was more of a social commentary joke of that stereotype than it was a fist-bump of acceptance to it. Then to freelance games writer Mitch Dyer's claim that the video could be seen as derogatory, Bowling agreed: I think the core gag is great, the end is a bit too far from the intent of the joke & can appreciate the concerns. Pulled. Infinity Ward, despite their initial shortsightedness, seems to have responded relatively quickly and respectfully, although it still feels like they've left out a few answers. Even if you didn't personally feel offended by the stunt, the word still has a lot negative power for most in our community, whether it's used to describe poor sports in an online match or hurled at someone before an act of violence. It's not something we should just accept because some clueless straight people "have some gay friends" who don't care at all. Honestly, of all the excuses that I've read for homophobia, I don't understand how people can still use the gay friends one and not be laughed out of the room.
For All Saint's Day, Amazon's got one of the DS's sleeper RPGs - The Wizard of Oz: Beyond the Yellow Brick Road - on sale for 37% off, or $18.98. Our own Game Boy liked it quite a bit, although critical opinion seems a little more mixed. Still, it should appeal to fans of the cuter side of the RPG, and if you're an Oz fan it's kind of a no-brainer. It's not the greatest deal in the world, but if the title had a low print run, it's possible the game could go out of print before prices drop much lower. If you're interested, click on the link below to buy the game through the GayGamer Amazon store, so the site gets a few pennies from the sale.
Rockstar Games has become a major sponsor of Movember, a month-long paean to the mustache that also benefits awareness of specific men's health issues, primarily prostate cancer. As part of the campaign, the company is offering a bit of immortality - a virtual spot in the upcoming Red Dead Redemption - to the person who manages to grow a winning mustache by the end of the month. Interested parties must first register at the Movember website, then enter their email address and "mo #" at the Rockstar site. Next, friends and family can sponsor you from peach fuzz to soup strainer and help you raise money for the cause, and lastly just send a picture of the results in at the end of the month to be considered for the spot in the game. They don't seem to have any specific criteria, so I'm sure you follically challenged individuals can come up with some creative ways to get yourself noticed. The official rules are here, so read them over before you commit. I'm pretty satisfied with the facial hair I have now, thanks, so I'll probably sit this one out.
Maybe it's not the greatest cinematic achievement, but compared to a few other game-to-movie translations, Silent Hill is practically a masterpiece. If you've never taken the time to check it out, folks in America (sorry, rest of the world) can now watch it streaming on Hulu for free, as they're added the movie to the site just in time for Halloween. Trick or treat! In case you haven't already, you'll need to sign up for a free account with the service in order to prove that it won't warp your fragile young mind. The movie does a great job with the world created in the game visually, even if the plot and more subtle elements are kind of fumbled. I liked Laurie Holden as Cybil the lesbian cop though, and Alice Krige was as nutty as ever. But don't take my faint praise for it, Hulu user Cassie Bee raves: i love this movie!! crazy stuff makes you think sometimes about whats really going on that we dont know about?!!?!?! happy halloween everyone!! *mwahs* Crazy stuff makes you think sometimes, indeed.
