mgs4.jpg

With all the hype surrounding the upcoming hardware bundle for Metal Gear Solid 4:Guns of the Patriots, some people may have completely overlooked the fact that the SCEA have released information on the online beta for the title.

Metal Gear Online is going to be released as a separate entity from the single player game, but the great news is that the full Metal Gear Solid 4 title will ship with a 'starter pack' so gamers can sample the full version.

For those interested in getting involved in the beta testing, it'll roll out in April and is only available to those who pre-order the game. If you adore Solid Snake and want to take part, pre-order as early as you can to ensure you're able to play Metal Gear Online this coming April.

Miami Nights: Singles In The City UK Release

miamisims.jpg

If you're not too sick of sim titles yet and enjoy imagining yourself living the jet set lifestyle of the rich and famous, you're going to love Miami Nights: Singles in the City on DS.

Released in the UK on February 15, Ubisoft teasingly tempt DS owners by asking which path they'll choose to get the fame and glory they so desperately seek. To make it in the flashy city of Miami, you can seduce, cheat, lie or steal as you make it to the top, all whilst you explore the city taking part in exclusive parties and more.

Ubisoft are claiming this to be the 'most open and entertaining life-simulation on the DS' and it does sound like fun. Developed by Gameloft and adapted from a mobile phone game Miami Nights: Singles in the City allows players a great deal of freedom and customization as they play through the various in-game scenarios. There is a complete city to explore, progressive character building, extensive customization and even some touch based minigames. As if all that wasn't enough, there's a wireless multi-card mode so you can import your friends avatars and interact with them in the game.

Overall it sounds like a bit of a blast if you're into flirting and simming and what better a place to do both than in sunny Florida!

More MySims - Yay! Go EA!

Shane.jpg

MySims is one of the coolest titles on the Wii, really it is. For the uninitiated, you can get completely absorbed in this pick up and play title and the fact it features what appears to be a drag queen, lesbian ice cream shop owner or screaming queen just makes it all the cooler.

News was released today by Nancy Smith that there would be more MySims titles released soon on the Wii and DS. MySims Kingdom and MySims Party will arrive later this year and will be followed by SimCity Creator and SimAnimals.

There will also be two online communities released in the future - TheSimsOnStage.com and TheSimsCarnvial.com. So it looks like there's no end to The Sims franchise at any time in the near future, oh and Happy Valentine's Day!

Rumor: New KOTOR From Bioware?

kotor.jpg

The lovely Luke over at Kotaku has reported today that Bioware may be working on a new KOTOR amongst other things.

Anyone interested in gaming has been hoping to hear more news on this for some time, because let's face it, after the beauty that is Mass Effect, Bioware can do no wrong in most gamers eyes. The upcoming Bioware/LucasArts project has been subject to much speculation for some time, but EA's recent analyst report appears to have let the cat out of the bag.

As well as working on more Mass Effect (yay!), a new unnamed MMO and Dragon Age, expect a new Knights of the Old Republic title with hopefully more lesbian content or at least same sex choices contained within!

What Happens In Vegas, Stays in Vegas - Including Rainbox Six

rainbowsix.jpg

Ubisoft have announced that the Rainbox Six series will end with Vegas as a location once their development team finishes work on Rainbow Six: Vegas 2

Designer Philippe Therien told Eurogamer that there were no plans to go back to Vegas, but teasingly added in "at least, not in the foreseeable future".He outlined that Ubisoft felt the story setting of Vegas was finished and there wasn't much more left to explore. He also commented that he wasn't sure if Rainbow Six would focus on a single location in future.

The new Rainbow Six which is due out on 21 March on all formats has a variety of new additions - sprinting, bullet penetration and a different reward system to the previous formula.

Assassin's Creed For PC In March - Extra Exclusive Content

assassinscreed.jpg

PC gamers have been short changed recently when it comes to Assassin's Creed. Constant delays and confusion over release dates have meant that PC gamers could only watch and drool as their console loving friends enjoyed what is a beautiful game. Well, that's all about to change as Ubisoft have announced that Assassin's Creed will be out in March.

To sweeten up those patient PC gamers, Ubisoft have also released information about exclusive content that isn't on the PS3 or XBox 360 version of the game. The extra content features four new pre-assassination investigations which is one of the most dull areas of the game, as anyone who has played the game already knows.

The downside to Assassin's Creed for PC however is that the specs required to run it are enough to power a small country. The recommended RAM is 3GB..... I don't know of many people who have more than 2GB so that will be interesting. In fairness it does say 2GB as a minimum, but clearly this is a game built to run on the fastest PC's out there.

Japan Get Silver PS3 - Lucky Them!

silverps4.jpg
Every now and again gaming jealousy comes to the forefront and this is one of those occasions. As if having a white and black PS3 wasn't enough for lucky Japanese gamers, they're now about to get a silver PS3 and it is very ... very... sexy.

The new satin silver PS3 will be available in Japan from March 6 and will be priced at around 39,980 Yen, around $375 US. There's not much else to it other than the color change though. It's the standard 40GB release with the Dualshock controller in silver also.

There's no news yet as to whether it will be released anywhere other than in Japan, but on the upside it is looking more likely that the white PS3 will be released in the US sometime soon.

Portal 2 - Give Us More Details!

Portal_Screen01.jpg

The lovely people at Eurogamer were lucky enough to get the chance to speak to Valve's Doug Lombardi about the prospect of more Portal and it's good news for puzzle fans.

Doug has confirmed that there will be "more Portal for sure", but that they're still working out the details of it at the moment. He speaks proudly about the "seven kids" that made the game and how Valve are happy to support future developments in the franchise. There's sadly no rush to get the game out, which means more patience required from us gamers, but on the upside it should mean a better product when it finally does hit the shelves. Doug also stated that it won't just be a case of adding a "bunch of new puzzles".

As someone who hated Portal the first time around and then went back and found a whole new appreciation for it, this is great gaming news. Seeing just how far they can take the Portal type game is going to be excellent and is definitely something that Orange Box fans will welcome. Hopefully more details will start to filter out soon about an expected release date. Go Valve!

EA Knock Out New Fighting Game

Ladies Boxing Gloves_2.jpg
EA have today released details about an upcoming new fighting game for PS3, Wii and Xbox 360 entitled Facebreaker.

Apparently, the game that is being developed by EA Canada looks like a cross between Ready 2 Rumble Boxing and Team Fortress 2. Sounds pretty intriguing doesn't it? There aren't too many details available yet, but it looks like it'll be full of cartoon graphics that actually allow 'real time facial deformation'. Yup, you can beat the hell out of your opponent and see their face fall to pieces right in front of your eyes. The great thing is that you can add your own photo to a character in game and take great joy in beating up your friends. Some of the interesting characters you can play are a latin lover named Romeo who has some sexy pelvic thrusts and Molotov a Russian demolitions expert.

Facebreaker sounds like it's going to be a whole lot of fun so expect some further news to filter out soon about release dates, game play and more!

Ellen Loves Guitar Hero - And So Do YouTubers

011408_1.jpg

If any of you managed to catch the Ellen Degeneres Show last week on her 50th birthday, you'll have seen her rocking out to Guitar Hero 3. Sure, she was playing on easy, but she still managed to get a 94% hit rate which is pretty good in front of an audience of millions.

Now Ellen has taken her love of Guitar Hero a step further by inviting onto her show some of the best Guitar Hero playing kids around. She basically finds these cool kids on You Tube and then invites them on her show to strut their stuff. As we all know, the younger the better when it comes to looking awesome on Guitar Hero, so check out some footage from Kotaku here of Shen, a 12 year old who got a little taste of what it's like to be a true rock God in front of a throng of screaming women.

Rock on Ellen, a lesbian and a gamer - just doesn't get much better really.

Kingdom Under Fire MMO In 2009

kingdom.jpg

If you enjoy a good romp around with a ton of other people in the evening, this could be the upcoming game for you.

Kingdom Under Fire is going back to it's roots and embracing the tactical aspects of being a massively multiplayer online action real-time strategy (MMOARTS) title. Korean developer Blueside will be working with Phantagram in the creation of Kingdom Under Fire: The Crusaders sequel. The upcoming title will not only allow players to play all alone in a single player campaign, but will also allow you to hop online and share your fun with thousands of others. You will be able to play as either the Human Alliance, Dark Kingdom or an as yet unnamed mystery addition.

As always, there will be plenty of depth to the storyline and great graphics and sound. The title doesn't have a release date as yet, but it's expected for both console and PC in 2009.

Gizmondo Returns - But Do We Really Care?

gizmondo-rising-again-2008.jpg

A few years ago I was lucky enough to be involved in the beta testing for a new handheld all-in-one wonder of technology called the Gizmondo. During it's pre-release testing, there were a few issues here and there with bugs and fixes as you might expect from most new machines on the market. Still, it had it all it would seem, a text service, GPS, gaming, email and more. Nobody could have predicted it would go on to gain infamy through sordid tales of embezzlement, prison terms and liquidation due to the team of 'experts' behind it. So imagine my surprise when it was confirmed yesterday that the Gizmondo is making a comeback.

Eurogamer spoke to a company known as Plextek who had their technical director Ian Murphy confirm that the Gizmondo will return. He wouldn't give any indication of when to expect it however, although the teaser site seemed to be suggesting it would be sometime in 2008. He stated that "there are a few things to do, and it will be a while before that happens, but yes, the product has been recovered from the liquidators and we are bringing it back to market".

Needless to say most of the team behind the first outing of the Gizmondo won't be returning. However, Carl Freer will be back on board after being cleared of any charges when Gizmondo Europe made huge losses over the first wave of Gizmondo. So, good or bad news for the handheld gaming market? Who knows at this stage, but it'll certainly be interesting to see which software developers they are able to get on board to create games for it.

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
