Jono here, reporting live from Comic-Con! I just attended Midway's Mortal Kombat. Vs. DC Universe where they just revealed Shazam, the Joker, and the Green Lantern as brand new DC characters. No footage of the new characters were shown, however. Kitana, Shang Tsung, and Liu Kang were also announced.
Ed Boon and Jimmy Palmiotti were featured at the panel and showed footage of the game, including Sonya vs. The Flash, Batman vs. Sub Zero, and Superman vs. Scorpion.
The gameplay is looking fantastic. The only thing that makes me hesitant is the slowness of the standard Mortal Kombat fighting moves and it looks like it is continuing in this installment. However, in special sequences when a fighter takes another through walls or during free fall kombat, the action picks up and becomes more intense.
They also confirmed an official comic book tie-in that will be published by DC as well as a special PS2 bundle featuring the last three MK games for $29.99 to be released soon.

Boy am I giddy with anticipation with this news. Midway has revealed that the latest iteration of its Mortal Kombat franchise, Mortal Kombat VS DC Universe, will be able to let players throw down with the likes of Superman and Batman. Unfortunately, per DC's request, there will be no fatalities (curses! I would kill to see Batman perform a fatality on Sonya!). So far only Superman, Batman, Scorpion, and Sub-Zero have been confirmed, but you can bet that more will be announced soon. The game is set for a fall release.
Fighting fans take note, this is the second time this year we've witnessed WTF cameos in a fighting game. What's next, Tekken VS Full House? That would actually be kind of cool...

Hi gang, jonostarsmore here broadcasting from the secret lair underneath Gaygamer Castle (with special permission from Fruit Brute) where all the comic book geeks hang out...well mainly us, the Pink Kryptonite staff.
