From our new friends over at Retro Game Videos comes the newest old entry into the Mario Brothers video library, an anime movie dating back to 1986. While it's only partly subtitled, I have a feeling that the addition of words in a language I can understand would actually do little to make this more understandable. But, as weird as it might be, the show does introduce a few "new" characters to the series: most notably a waifish dreamboat who I can only assume is the Mushroom Prince! So okay Nintendo, where's my game where Mario has to go rescue him!...

This morning it's therapy time. For a lot of us who grew up in the early 90s, there was a show that did terrible things to us—things we probably don't want to remember—and its time to come to terms with that. Even though it's long since passed on, the scars still linger. It was called Video Power, wherein a pair of fakey, fast-talking, Vanilla-Ice-looking hosts talked hip while trying to make a game show out of the best games 1991 had to offer. Drink milk, don't do drugs, and play ninja turtles, that was pretty much the gist. What you might not remember, though, is that the show was painful, like straight brain-poison through the tear duct BAD. But now it's time to face that abuse. We've got an episode of Video Power right here and it wants to talk. Let the healing begin....

Based on the popular Japanese dating sims, Angelique is all about one thing: Space Nookie! And fortunately, the same goes with the anime. Watch as our heroine gets her choice of a bevy of beautiful boys while she learns what it takes to become the next queen of the cosmos. Although a lot of the plot doesn't make sense to me yet, I'm all about finding an English translation of the games now, and you can bet I'd be a lot less of a proper princess than this gal when it comes to nabbing cuties like Arios. Rowr. So check it out, this morning we've got the subtitled anime OVA of Angelique. It's all about the boys....

It's all about the boys.

This year's holiday gift must-have for your favorite WoW addict... becuase murlocs are still too hard to wrangle under a Christmas tree.

At the WizKids booth, Fruit Brute gets a lesson in Haloclix, which pretty much combines his two favorite things in the whole wide world: Halo 3 and clix-based strategy games. The neat thing about these, a lot of the new aliens and enemies from Halo 3 will be appearing in clicky form with Haloclix's release several days before the actual video game.

The upcoming Halo ActionClix Scarab Vehicle. At some point, these things stop being "miniatures."

A teaser for the little known "Gobilin Game," one of Wizards of the Coast's upcoming, pay-to-play Gleemax games.

Scary chicks and big swords at the Wizards of the Coast booth.

Even the blackout in the exhibitor hall on Sunday didn't stop the murderous Kill Doctor Lucky demos from going on at the Paizo booth.

PAX 2007 Wrap-Up: Pink Godzilla

The PAX exhibitor hall is kind of dark. Maybe it's to keep the glare off all the flashing screens, maybe its to make those glowing signs really pop, or maybe it's to make the more reclusive attendees feel like they're in their natural habitats. Regardless of the reason, gleaming through the half-light every year is a pink paradise of retro gaming: Pink Godzilla. As if the name wasn't enough to make you fall in love, the shop—which hails from Seattle's International District and has a webstore—has the most adorable little pink Godzilla mascot and has even put out a cute little card game wherein you design your own video game. Hanging on one of the few pink fur walls that weren't papered in NES games was an awesome, I-wish-it-were-real, oversized card from their Pink Godzilla Dev Kit card game (seen to the right). Too cool. I'd elaborate on all the nostalgic titles and imported delights they had for sale, but I refused to let myself get too close after Fruit Brute produced a collection of tiny Zelda: Twilight Princess figurines… which I covet. When it comes to capsule toys and other small Japanese collectables, I have a problem. But I snapped a couple of pretty pink photos from a safe distance, which you can see right after the jump....
