While downloading Mega Man 9, the PS3 was favored with top speed the majority of the time, while the 360 was able to pull ahead. The Wii ended up being the slowest of the bunch with a download speed nearly half that of the PS3. ]]> Atlus U.S.A., Inc., the only publisher that makes it look oh-so-Ys-ee, today announced that Legacy of Ys: Books I & II for Nintendo DS™ will ship two weeks later than originally scheduled, now slated to bump into retail stores on February 24, 2009. This was of course immediately accepted because this delay would allow for each and every launch copy of the game to magically transform into a premium boxed release, with the soundtrack CD--formerly intended as a pre-order bonus--to physically be included with each and every copy of the game`s first print run.

This unexpected upgrade signals the return of Atlus Spoils, a fan appreciation campaign intended to give a little extra something to the company's faithful followers as a thank you for their continued support. The program is planned to remain active indefinitely during 2009, meaning fans can expect additional bonuses and extras in future Atlus releases throughout the year.

I tried so hard to love the game, but instead found myself frustrated, annoyed, and oftentimes just flat out bored to tears by it. I feel I should be all defensive and say that I loved every minute of Oblivion (aside from the main quest) but everyone always does that... and I've just become one of those people. While I'm in the minority on this one, that doesn't mean people who loved the game don't have their own little criticisms over Bethesda's portal into post-apocalyptic Washington D.C. Our good friends over at the MTV Multiplayer Blog (Ok, not good friends, more like the people I stalk) have posed three of the game's main flaws to executive producer Todd Howard. First up we've got Afro Samurai, based on the animated series of the same name. This sword slashing adventure game puts you in the role of Afro, a samurai setting out to avenge his father's death by challenging his killer, Justice. There is a whole bunch of stuff about headbands and robots and such, so fans of the series will find something to love. Afro's voice is done by Samuel L. Jackson (as it is in the series), so expect a whole bunch of words I can't repeat for fear of getting my mouth washed out with soap. Backing up Jackson is Hellboy himself Ron Pearlman and the woman behind Lady Deathstrike, Kelly Hu. Anyone else notice how much I love comic book films? If you're perhaps less interested in stylized Feudal Japan and more interested in the real history, then look into Nonunaga's Ambition: Iron Triangle, a strategy game that all but demands you be well versed in The Art of War and The Prince. Speaking of classic books, Coraline hits theaters in February, so of course the obligatory game tie-ins have arrived. Based on the Neil Gaiman story of a girl who is transported into a magical world, the games should at least hold you over until the movie, otherwise just read the book! I'd say something about Rygar: The Battle of Argus for the Wii, but I don't want to prejudge this game, and everything I've heard about it has been less than favorable. Now are we looking at strict adventure, or a more survival horror approach. The jury is still out, but considering today was the first I've heard of the game, the trailer has me a tad bit hyped. Combining an intriguing mystery, some rather fine Wii visuals, and gameplay that looks to tap into the magic side of things, Cursed Mountain is a game to watch. I can say that Nintendo is an unstoppable juggernaut. I can say that the popularity of the DS in Japan is changing the face of gamers. Heck I can even say that Sony's three consoles look to be safe from the verbal tongue lashings they receive in the states. The one thing I can't spin, and the one bit of info everyone is jumping on is that Tales of Vesperia was the only Xbox 360 game to find itself on the list. Now before everyone goes off on rants I just want to point out that there are two sides to every coin. People take this information and use it as an attack on consoles, or in defense of others. Japanese-made consoles have always been more popular in Japan, and I think the little bit of love they're showing the 360 is a huge leap forward. Sure the best selling 360 game was a jRPG, but progress is progress.
